(First letter home from the MTC)
So Blessed
Thank you so much for the
letters!!! I appreciate them so much!!!!! It makes everyday a little
better! It's something to look forward to reading when we get home from a
long day!
I've
been doing really good about getting up on time. As soon as the alarm
clock goes off, I'm out of bed and on my knees. Something I totally
didn't see coming though was only having 15 minutes to get ready.
FIFTEEN MINUTES. That's it. So I even got up at 6:15
once. I know. Who would have thought? But a friend told me something that
has really helped me with getting up. He said that you're a missionary
and your supposed to get up at 6:30, if you get up at 6:31 you are being
disobedient. And they stress obedience soooo much here. They always
say, "Obedience brings blessings, EXACT obedience brings miracles."
Anyway. I met this girl in the line for the shower, and she was telling
me that she goes 10 days without washing her hair. Don't worry- I washed
my hair last night... but it's way tempting to just go straight to bed.
So ya. We wake up at 6:30 and then have breakfast at 6:45 and then
something else always starts at 7:15. So the days feel sooooo long but
we still don't have time for everything! We are supposed to memorize all
this stuff and then read from our spanish and
english Book of Mormon side by side and write down vocab words and then
we have to prepare lessons for M, our investigator. That's the most
stressful scary part. We had to teach our first lesson in Spanish
yesterday. I DON'T SPEAK SPANISH. Tonight we are giving our second
lesson. I didn't think the first one went very well at all. But that's
alright, now we know and we are working harder on our next lesson.
My compainion is Hermana Howard. I can't even tell you
how much I miss just having people call me Megan. But that's alright.
Only 18 months, right?
So the
first day when I got here I felt way bad for the missionaries that were
the greeter/host people. Mainly because all the new missionaries are
all crying and the greeters are trying so hard to be positive and
happy. I was a mess until I saw one of my good friends
from school. Courtney Davis. She's going to Russia! Anyway, I saw her
and we got all excited and everything was good. SUCH A BLESSING.
I've also seen some of my other friends here! Like my
FHE brother Mason Hammer! I see him a lot so that's really fun. Only hand
shakes which is WAY WEIRD. It's even weirder taking pictures because
you just stand there next to people awkardly because you can't put your
arms around them. And I saw my friends Kristina Nye and Ballie Sigman.
There are 4 girls and 4 boys in my district. We are all
going to Resistencia are here for the same amount of time. They say that it's not very common for us to get our Visas so we will all most likely be assigned somewhere else until
they come.
Spanish is coming alright. It's hard, but especially
today I can tell that I at least know a little bit more. We are supposed
to speak whatever spanish we know. And same with other languages, we
are all supposed to speak the language that we are learning, so
everywhere you go you hear people speaking different languages. I'm
just so glad that I'm not learning Japanese!! Seriously. They are here
for 9 weeks! I would die. But I do realize that time here is so
important and to make sure that every second is used wisely. That's
another thing Greg told me. He said the MTC stands for Make Time Count.
I've noticed I'm the most homesick when I have a little bit of time or
when we aren't being super productive so after I figured that out, I
don't give myself anytime to be worried or homesick or stressed. I
always make sure I'm memorizing or reading or doing something
productive. EVERYONE always says, just make it to Sunday. Not really
sure what that means, but I guess if we make it to Sunday, it gets
better.
We get to go to the temple today! At 12:15ish or
something like that. That will be a nice change from sitting in the
classroom, but I get sad when we go over to the temple grounds because I get super
homesick. Like when we went to play volleyball the other day. Rough. I'm
doing really good though! I can really feel the spirit here! Yesterday
after our super rough lesson, when we came back to go to bed, us and the
other two girls that live with us, Sister Pipe and Sister Skirvan, all
said prayers together and the spirit was sooo strong. We all kind of have
our own little struggles but we are getting through them!!!
I love you guys so much and miss you soooo much!!! I
can't tell you how loved I feel getting your letters and DearElders.
That's seriously the best. I feel so blessed to have such great family.
If you haven't already picked out a scripture for me to put on my plaque
I totally have one. Well, two. Are we allowed to do two? I'll find them
when I have time cuz I don't have time to look them up!!!
I only took like one picture. And it's not a super good
one so I'll try to be better about that. I just didn't want to take the
time to figure out how to connect it to the computer and stuff, but I
would love if you guys sent me a picture too!!
I will try to write everyone back and email everyone! I
obviously don't type fast enough so I'll work on that. haha
Love you
guys soooo much!!!!!!!
Miss you like crazy!!!!!!!
Love,
